Permanent eyeliner: the look that stays on.

Permanent makeup work at Syinger Tattoos

Wake up, and the liner is there. Permanent eyeliner puts pigment along the lash line so your eyes keep their definition without the daily routine, and without it looking like a harsh tattoo.

Permanent eyeliner, sometimes called eyeliner tattooing, deposits pigment just above and between the lashes. Done well, it looks like your natural lash line is stronger, not like a line drawn on permanently.

The difference between "subtle enhancement" and "obvious tattoo" is depth, placement, and restraint. All of that is decided in the design stage, before pigment ever touches the eye.

01 — What permanent eyeliner is.

The pigment is applied along the lash line with a fine needle, the same permanent-makeup technique used for brows and lips. It's a delicate area, so the work is done in light passes rather than one heavy line.

Because it's placed so close to the eye, comfort and precision matter more here than almost anywhere else. It's worth seeing real, close-up examples of a technician's eyeliner work before booking, because it's a specialist skill within permanent makeup.

02 — Choosing your style.

There are a few distinct looks, and which one suits you depends on your eye shape and how strong you want the result:

  • Tightline — pigment tucked between the lashes. The subtlest option; it adds definition without an obvious line.
  • Classic lash line — a fine line along the top lashes that makes them look fuller.
  • Soft wing / cat-eye — a gentle flick at the outer corner for a lifted look.

A good artist will guide this choice rather than just execute what you describe. Strong wings age differently and are harder to live with on some eyes. The design should suit your eye shape, not just your Pinterest folder.

03 — The procedure.

The appointment starts with a consultation about the style, then marking so you can approve the placement while you're looking in a mirror. Numbing drops make the process comfortable.

The pigment is applied in a series of light passes along the lash line. Most sessions run one to two hours. Because the work is done over and around the lashes rather than on the eyelid skin itself, there's no real risk to the eye when done properly.

Design stage matters most: in permanent eyeliner, the design decides everything: how the line follows your lash line, how far it extends, how thick it sits. A perfect application of the wrong design is still the wrong design.

04 — Healing and how long it lasts.

For the first few days the line will look darker and slightly bolder than the final result. As the area heals, the pigment settles and softens, usually over one to two weeks.

Keep the area dry and avoid rubbing the eyes while healing. Don't pick any flaking pigment, and skip eye makeup around the lash line until the artist says it's safe.

Permanent eyeliner isn't forever. It fades gradually over a few years, and most people schedule a touch-up to refresh the depth. That's normal maintenance, not a sign the original work failed.

“The best permanent liner isn't noticed as makeup. Your eyes just look done.”

05 — Booking a consultation.

Send a clear, close-up photo of your eye area without makeup and tell us which style you're drawn to, even if you're not sure it suits you. The artist can recommend the approach that fits your eye shape before you book anything.

And bring your questions, especially about how the result will age. The answers change what you choose.
